This project aimed to empower 250 women from eight villages in the Yakawalang District of Bamyan Province who expressed interest in learning vegetable gardening. To facilitate their education, we hired an agronomist who trained eight local instructors during a 15-day workshop. These instructors were then responsible for teaching the 250 women in their respective villages as local trainers.
Throughout the project, the agronomist made regular visits to the training sessions to address any questions and provide guidance to both the participants and the local instructors. This initiative not only enhanced the participants’ skills in vegetable gardening but also promoted self-sufficiency and improved nutrition within the communities. The women gained valuable knowledge that they could apply in their homes, contributing to better food security and economic empowerment.
